Make Yourself a Better Personal Trainer

If you’re a personal trainer and want to become a master at your craft, attract more clients, grow your business, and make more money then this post is for you!

You can Make Yourself a Better Personal Trainer by doing the following 4 things…

#1 Read

Reading books is one of the best things you can do to increase your knowledge and offer more value to your clients. I’m not just talking about books on anatomy, nutrition, sports science… i’m talking about books on business, self development, and psychology….

My top 5 books for personal trainers are:

  • N1 Nutritional Programming – Phil Learney
  • Think & Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
  • How to Win Friends & Influence People – Dale Carnegie
  • The E-Myth – Michael E Gerber
  • The Worlds Fittest Book – Ross Edgley

#2 Podcasts

I wrote a post on this last year called the 5 Best Podcasts For Personal Trainers. Listening to podcasts is one of the best ways to gain knowledge, and they’re FREE!

Start getting into the routine of listening to podcasts on your commute to work, I can guarantee that you’ll learn tons and also gain a bunch of inspiration from some of the worlds leading experts…

My top 5 podcasts for Personal trainers are:

  • Phil Learney
  • Mark Coles – Mastery Podcast
  • Ben Coomber
  • London Real
  • Joe Rogan

#3 Audiobooks

I’ve been a member of Audible for over 3 years now, I set myself a goal to listen to 12 audiobooks per year (1 book per month) and have completed this for the last 3 years! That means i’ve listened to 36 books!

It’s amazing how much i’ve learned! I particularly like business and self development books, my top 5 audible recommendations are:

  • Elon Musk
  • The Power of Now – Eckhart Tolle
  • The Secret – Rhonda Bryne
  • Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself – Dr Joe Dispenza
  • Start With Why – Simon Sinek

#4 Hire A Mentor

Listening to podcasts/audiobooks and reading will get you very far, BUT hiring a great mentor will get you even further and even quicker!

I’m all for tapping into free learning, but you need somebody that’s going to help you where you are right now, and that’s why it’s super important to hire an experienced mentor to guide you through the process and keep you accountable. A great coach is the best investment you can make!
